January starts Home & Garden Shows season!

January brings colder weather (in some cases lots of snow or rain) and a sense of hibernating for a few weeks after all the chaos of the holiday season. But in some areas of the county, it is the start of the Home and Garden Show season! These home improvement/garden shows help to perk up people’s moods and show them that springtime is right around the corner! If one of your New Year’s Resolutions  is to be more organized and/or work on home improvement, then going to the Home & Garden Show in your area will be a treasure trove of ideas.

Savannah is hosting its 12th Annual Low Country Home & Garden Show  at the International Trade & Convention Center starting Friday, January 20, 2012 through Sunday, January 22, 2012. This year’s show, sponsored by Savannah Morning News, WTOC11, and Magic 103.9 to just name a few, is bigger and better than ever. Hundreds of vendors will be at the show ranging from general contractors and designers to gourmet chefs and NASA! This show offers a great opportunity to see the latest in floor and window treatments, kitchen and bath design and technology for your home. There are daily DIY Seminars and even free wine tasting! Brian Santos, “The Wall Wizard”, will give tips and tricks on how to save time and money on projects around your home.  Paul Brown, reality show star and owner of Gallery 63, will discuss his experience being on “Auction Kings”  as well as do free appraisals on antique or collectible items.  Lowe’s  is sponsoring an Interactive Kid’s Zone this year. The Low County Home & Garden show is fun for the whole family!

Once you get all of the great ideas for home remodeling, organization and yard improvements, the next step is to get your goals and get your plan started. However, what are you going to do with all of the items in the rooms that you will be remodeling? That is where renting a self-storage unit comes into play! Renting a self-storage unit can be short term to give you much needed space during a remodel.  If you plan on making yard improvements, you will need a place to store the patio furniture, lawn chairs and barbeques until the next season. Plus, once you get organized, self-storage can be a great place to put those collectible items that you want to keep, but no longer have the room to store in your homes! Stop n Stor offers a variety of storage unit sizes to meet any organizational challenge!  Stop n Stor also offers packing supplies  to keep your belongings safe and dry until you need them again!

Help De-Clutter your home by using Self-Storage

It’s that time of year again….New Year’s Resolution time! Everyone is trying to make themselves better for 2012! These resolutions can be very diverse from losing weight, quitting a bad habit, exercising more, spending more time with family and friends to getting organized. Becoming “de-cluttered” and becoming more organized is always within the top 5 resolutions at the beginning of each New Year. The holidays bring extra clutter to our homes with decorations and presents. Self-storage is a great option to help de-clutter your home after the holiday season and actually all year-long!

If your goal is to get more organized this year, then make sure that you have a plan of action in place to accomplish this goal. You don’t have to do it all at one time, but you can work on small projects. Work on one room at a time. This will make the task less daunting. You can even organize your garage, so your car will finally have a place to park. When you are working on each room or the garage, create piles for your belongings: what to keep, what to donate, what to throw away and what to put into storage. Utilizing self-storage gives you back the space that you have lost in your home. You can store important documents, family heirlooms, photos or seasonal items securely in a self-storage unit.

If you are already renting a storage unit, don’t forget to spend some time re-organizing the unit. Over time, you can forget what you stored in the unit, so it is good to look through the items every season. Throw away or donate items that you no longer want or need in your storage unit. You might be able to renegotiate with the storage facility to get a smaller unit or realize that you have more stuff than you thought and rent a larger unit.

For 2012, Stop n Stor  has made their own resolutions! These are just a few of the resolutions:
