Self Storage and Home Improvement

After you have visited the different home garden and remodeling shows and received tips for your remodeling or renovation projects, it is time to start planning your upcoming spring and summer projects. Renting a self-storage unit for personal and business storage is a great way to keep the furniture and accessories from the room or office protected during remodeling or renovation projects. If the remodeling project allows you to get new furniture, keep the older furniture in a self-storage unit.

Stop N Stor has a variety of climate and non-climate controlled storage units that can fit all of your storage needs from storing tools during a construction project to storing all of the furniture in a bedroom or living room! Our friendly and professional staff can help you with your storage needs from packing and moving supplies to temporary storage for your renovation project. Stop in when you need help finding the right storage space for your renovation projects! Enjoy the home and garden show and good luck with your spring and summer home improvement projects!

Savannah Tour of Home and Gardens

There are both national and local events being held in Savannah nearly every weekend of the year.  Last weekend was the excitement and fun of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade that wound through the squares and streets of historic downtown Savannah. This coming weekend you can get a chance to tour some of the historic homes and buildings that were along the parade route. Savannah has the largest urban landmark historic district in the United States. There are 2.5 square miles of parks, squares and homes. Savannah was found in 1733 by General James Edward Oglethorpe. He designed the city to be a grid of residences and broad boulevards with spacious squares. Because of his plans, Savannah now has 21 oak canopied squares surrounded by historic homes, with some homes dating back over 200 years.

The 78th Annual Savannah Tour of Homes is March 21st to March 24th. The event allows the public to visit some of Savannah’s finest private residences and admire rare furniture and decorations that have been in families for generations as well as tour beautiful home gardens. The tour is a self-guided tour of 6-9 different sites over a 3 hour period. There are also historical time period (Revolutionary War to Civil War) specific tours and tours of Bonaventure Cemetery.  There are special seminars that are held over the 3 days of the event. The tickets go very fast, so order them today to be able to see living history in Savannah.

Savannah is known around the world for its history and architecture. It is considered a great vacation spot for romance or for the entire family. There are so many things to do and see in Savannah from going to the beach to visiting historical forts to dining at well-known restaurants. The well-preserved historic downtown district is a destination for every visitor to the city. Stop N Stor  is very proud to be a member of the Savannah community! January is the Time to Start Thinking About Spring Projects

January is the time to reflect on what had occurred in the past year and set goals for the New Year. In most areas of the country, January is also the coldest, wettest and generally the most miserable month of the year. After the excesses of the holiday season, it is a good time for people to take a break and start planning spring and summer activities including travel, home improvement and organizational projects .

Every January and February, cities across the United States and Canada host home improvement shows to get people excited for spring and summer projects. These home shows will have everything from fully built homes and gardens to food and wine samples. Savannah is hosting the 13th Annual Low Country Home and Garden Show  at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center from Friday, January 18th through Sunday, January 20th. The hall will be filled with exhibitors that will be able to help you with ideas for improvements in and outside your home. The show has it all from gardens and landscapes to interior design ideas and daily live plant and tree sales. There are also DIY seminars, interactive Kids Zone, pet area and wine tasting.

How does home improvement and self storage complement each other? When you have decided to do a home renovation project, you will need to remove all of the items from the room during the remodeling process. Self storage is the best solution to store items for a monthly basis. Moving the items into self storage will protect them from any damage that can occur during the remodeling process. If you are changing the décor of a room and do not have space for a cherished family heirloom (or even your father’s old recliner), you can keep that item in a storage unit until you decide what to do with it.

Stop by the Low Country Home & Garden Show to get ideas for your home projects. January is a great time to start planning for your spring and summer home improvement projects. Stop N Stor  offers a variety of storage unit sizes to help you through any remodeling project. Stop N Stor also has packing and moving supplies for properly storing the items in your remodeled space.

January starts Home & Garden Shows season!

January brings colder weather (in some cases lots of snow or rain) and a sense of hibernating for a few weeks after all the chaos of the holiday season. But in some areas of the county, it is the start of the Home and Garden Show season! These home improvement/garden shows help to perk up people’s moods and show them that springtime is right around the corner! If one of your New Year’s Resolutions  is to be more organized and/or work on home improvement, then going to the Home & Garden Show in your area will be a treasure trove of ideas.

Savannah is hosting its 12th Annual Low Country Home & Garden Show  at the International Trade & Convention Center starting Friday, January 20, 2012 through Sunday, January 22, 2012. This year’s show, sponsored by Savannah Morning News, WTOC11, and Magic 103.9 to just name a few, is bigger and better than ever. Hundreds of vendors will be at the show ranging from general contractors and designers to gourmet chefs and NASA! This show offers a great opportunity to see the latest in floor and window treatments, kitchen and bath design and technology for your home. There are daily DIY Seminars and even free wine tasting! Brian Santos, “The Wall Wizard”, will give tips and tricks on how to save time and money on projects around your home.  Paul Brown, reality show star and owner of Gallery 63, will discuss his experience being on “Auction Kings”  as well as do free appraisals on antique or collectible items.  Lowe’s  is sponsoring an Interactive Kid’s Zone this year. The Low County Home & Garden show is fun for the whole family!

Once you get all of the great ideas for home remodeling, organization and yard improvements, the next step is to get your goals and get your plan started. However, what are you going to do with all of the items in the rooms that you will be remodeling? That is where renting a self-storage unit comes into play! Renting a self-storage unit can be short term to give you much needed space during a remodel.  If you plan on making yard improvements, you will need a place to store the patio furniture, lawn chairs and barbeques until the next season. Plus, once you get organized, self-storage can be a great place to put those collectible items that you want to keep, but no longer have the room to store in your homes! Stop n Stor offers a variety of storage unit sizes to meet any organizational challenge!  Stop n Stor also offers packing supplies  to keep your belongings safe and dry until you need them again!
