In past posts, we’ve talked about Stop n Stor locations in Hinesville and Savannah, now it’s time to shed a bit of light on the city of Port Wentworth. Port Wentworth, in Chatham County, is a community of 5300 residents strategically placed near Savannah/Hilton Head
International Airport, Savannah National Wildlife Refuge , the Savannah River and the Georgia Port Authority. Port Wentworth is just minutes away from historic downtown Savannah. Port Wentworth has the distinct pleasure of being the fastest growing city in Chatham County. According to the Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce , Port Wentworth is the gateway to Georgia history, heritage and attractions including shopping, dining, arts & culture, golf, fishing, watersports and hunting. There are many historical places to see in and near Port Wentworth such as Mulberry Grove Plantation where Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in 1793.
Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce was created to help businesses grow through
networking events and referrals. The Chamber of Commerce helps to ensure business success and increased exposure in the community. The Chamber sponsors events such as ribbon cutting, ground breaking and grand opening events. Stop n Stor is a proud member of the Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber also sponsors special events for its members.
The Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce recently hosted the 2nd annual Port Wentworth Chamber Oyster Roast and BBQ at the Lions Club Ballpark. Over 50
representatives of local businesses attended the event which was sponsored by Boyett Insurance and Port Wentworth Lions Club. There was great food, networking and a raffle for a flat screen TV with the proceeds going to the Houston Museum project. Stop n Stor’s very own Alan Dasher attended the event. You can check out pictures from the event below. Stop n Stor looks forward to future events with the Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce. Check out our ad in the Port Wentworth City Guide. We wrote about Wounded Warrior Outdoors on our blog in May, 2011. Since that time, the article is on the list of the most read posts on our blog. This is such a great
and worthwhile organization that we wanted to write about it again!
Wounded Warrior Outdoors is a non-profit organization that
offers injured servicemen and women the opportunity to be involved in
therapeutic outdoor adventures such as fishing and hunting. Every part of the
trip is paid for including transportation, lodging and food. The organization
takes 9 trips a year to 5 different states including Kentucky, Maine, Florida,
Texas, Oklahoma and British Columbia. Fifty wounded, but still active duty,
military personnel are chosen to go on these adventures a year. With the help
of doctors and nurses at two military hospitals, participants are chosen for
these 5 day trips. The trips are actually part of the therapy and healing
process for these wounded warriors. It is a chance for them to get out of the
confines of a hospital to enjoy the outdoors. The participants get to tackle
challenges that they wouldn’t have in normal recovery at a hospital, such as
hiking and fishing and doing everyday normal things. This is all part of the
healing process for the injured participants. There was a recent excursion
to the wilds of Florida in August for boar and alligator hunting.
The organization was started in 2008 by Ron Raboud. Wounded Warrior Outdoors is
staffed with non-paid volunteers. The organization runs with no overhead and
relies on personal and corporate donations. Some of the businesses sponsoring
Wounded Warrior Outdoors include: Southwest Airlines, Janus , Self-Storage Association, Rabco Corporation and Mosquito Creek Outdoors to just name a few. The military is
a full supporter of this program as well.
Stop n Stor is proud to be a local sponsor of such a worthwhile organization. Keep checking our blog for regular updates on the excursions for
Wounded Warrior Outdoors. Donations are accepted for Wounded Warrior Outdoors
at all of the Stop n Stor locations.
Stop n Stor was proud to be a vendor at the 2011 Fort Stewart Vendor
Fair which was held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Club Stewart. The vendor
fair was sponsored by The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and DRASH.
It was a great event with 70 vendors from communities surrounding Fort Stewart . Over 600 people attended the event to get information about selling to and working with government agencies. Vendors and sponsors provided door prizes and other prizes totaling over $1500! One lucky participant won $250 in cash via the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce passport contest! The entertainment for the event was provided by local performers, Acoustic Rhythms. It was a fun and successful event!
Stop n Stor is proud to be a member of the Fort Stewart community. Stop n Stor looks forward to being a part of more community events in the future.
Stop N Stor will be participating in The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce 2011 Fort Stewart Vendor Fair on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. The event is sponsored by DRASH, a leading supplier of military supplies. Fort Stewart is home to the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division and its 23,000 soldiers. This event gives vendors the opportunity to market their business to Fort Stewart and the surrounding areas. There will be a chance to meet with over 800 government purchasing card agents at the event. The 2009 event, hosted in Fort Stewart had nearly 2000 participants! The vendor fair starts at 8:00am at Club Stewart, 1020 Hero Rd, Building #405.
The theme of this year’s event stays with “Shop, Save & Support” your local businesses. Dollars spent locally stay in the local economy through taxes, payroll and other expenses. There will also be classes for both participants and vendors starting at 8am that will help a business in selling to government entities as well as training in building business relationships. There will also be door prizes and give-aways throughout the day, including the “Passport to Winnings” sponsored by The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce.

[slideshow]Hinesville, Georgia was established in 1837. It’s had many ups and downs throughout the years, but the population of Hinesville has grown to over 30,000. It is located about 40 miles southwest of Savannah. It is the county seat and largest city in Liberty County, Georgia. Hinesville is located near Fort Stewart the home of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division. The base was an important training facility during World War II and was officially designated as a permanent fort in 1956. Since the 1970’s the fort has helped spur Hinesville’s population growth.
In 2004, the city government of Hinesville created the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority (HDDA) to help boost the revitalization of the downtown Hinesville properties. Downtown Hinesville is full of eclectic restaurants, shops and fun places to visit, including parks and museums. The museums include: The Old Liberty County Jail Museum, ITPA Telephone Museum and the Fort Stewart Museum (on the base of Fort Stewart). There are many parks to explore in the downtown Hinesville area. In fact, every Thursday, there is a farmer’s market at Bradwell Park from 4-8pm. This market features local produce from Hinesville area farmers. This is a popular weekly event. You can check out pictures here . The Farmer’s Market runs every week to October 27th. Come out and support your local produce farmers!
The Hinesville Downtown Development Authority is affiliated with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and the Hinesville Area Arts Council . The Hinesville Arts Council sponsors events from French cooking classes to lunchtime concerts. Working together, these organizations are keeping Hinesville moving towards the future. Currently, the HDDA is working on developing properties and businesses for the Memorial Drive and Main Street Business district. Stop n Stor is proud to be a part of the Hinesville community!

Wounded Warrior Outdoors was founded by Ron Raboud of Rabco Corporation in 2010. Rabco builds pre-engineered metal buildings for the self-storage industry.
